Daily amount of vitamin C

Vitamin C is by far the best known vitamin known to man. From an early age, we are told to eat enough fruits and vegetables. This makes it all the more important to pay attention to this vitamin. If you eat the prescribed amount of fruit and vegetables every day, you will not develop a deficiency and need not worry. With a daily portion of red bell pepper or kiwi, you're in good shape. If you (often) don't get that two pieces of fruit and one portion of vegetables, then buying supplements with vitamin C is the ideal solution. Are you afraid of creating a surplus? Then read on.

Prescribed amount of vitamin C

For people over the age of 14, the Nutrition Center recommends a daily amount of vitamin C of 75 milligrams. With this amount in the body, you ensure that the vitamin strengthens the absorption of iron in the body, keeps the resistance up, protects body cells and contributes to the formation of connective tissue.

Vitamin C surplus

Do you consume a lot more fruits and vegetables that contain vitamin C every day, or do you take an extra supplement in addition to a good natural amount of vitamin C, just to be sure? Then you don't really need to worry.  Your body urinates a surplus of vitamin C usually just out and does not store it in the body. Where a deficit can build up fairly quickly, this does not apply to a vitamin C surplus. Your body regulates this itself. Those who structurally consume too much vitamin C should be careful, however. A vitamin C surplus can cause certain symptoms, such as intestinal problems or diarrhea. Previously it was also thought that too much vitamin C could cause kidney stones. However, research has never proven this.
