New research: more people are taking nutritional supplements

Due to the coronavirus, we have never been more aware of our health as now. New British research shows that this is reflected in the number of users of nutritional supplements. A striking number of young people say they take extra supplements.

British research

The Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) conducted a survey on 10,000 Britons in response to the corona crisis and the subsequent lockdown. With the "Health of Nation 2021; Lockdown Focus Survey "they wanted to know how people look after their health despite the severe lockdown.

Large majority of adults

The responses of the British surveyed show that more than 70% of adults nowadays take nutritional supplements. Statistically, this amount is about 20 million Britons. A year earlier this was 16.5 million. That's an increase of 19%! Of the people who take nutritional supplements, 47.6% say that he or she even takes extra vitamins on a daily base.

Many young people

When we look into the ages of the respondents, it appears that many young people use nutritional supplements. In the age limit of 18 to 24-year-old Britons, 77% would take dietary supplements according to the study.

Dutch research

The HFMA is a UK-based professional membership organization that helps healthcare executives and professionals navigate the complexities of healthcare. Unfortunately, no such research has yet been conducted among Dutch people.
